Joyce Wanjiku Ngugi, the widow of former Gatundu South MP Joseph Ngugi has been nominated as Deputy Governor of Kiambu.
Governor James Nyoro picked Wanjiku days after he was installed the county boss following success removal of then Governor Ferdinand Waititu.
There was pressure for Nyoro to nominate a woman to deputise her. Some even proposed gospel singer Loise Kim.
In 2014 Wanjiku attempted to succeed her late husband in a by-election but she pulled out of the race. Moses Kuria won the seat.
It awaits the County Assembly to ratify Nyoro’s choice and from the feeling in the chambers, Wanjiku will be Kiambu’s third deputy governor.
