Kiambu County is losing millions of shillings in revenue every day to some high-profile people in the government.
Deputy Governor Dr. James Nyoro disclosed that Kiambu, one of the top five richest county in Kenya is losing nearly half of its revenue through theft but he did not reveal the culprits.
Nyoro said the former Governor William Kabogo’s administration submitted double what Governor Ferdinard Waititu’s administration had.
“When Kiambu collects money well, it should collect between Sh6 million and Sh10 million daily. Yes, for one day and if you question that, internal revenue in Kiambu during Kabogo time he collected Sh2.5 billion” Nyoro told Kiambu residents (Video Below).
He said they have been collecting Sh1.6 billion. If you divide this with six days and 52 weeks you will see about Sh5 million is collected daily and on good market day, it is Sh10 million. The problem is that money is stolen before it gets to the county” Nyoro revealed.
