Wa Iria sent his waziri to campaign for Wiper in Embakasi by-election

Jubilee party did not field a candidate for Embakasi South mini-poll concluded last week but some leaders in the ruling party had preferred candidates in the contest between Wiper and ODM parties which are partners in NASA alliance.

Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria sent his waziri to campaign for Wiper’s candidate Julius Musili Mawathe who was battling it out with immediate former MP Irshad Sumra who was on ODM ticket. The race however had 15 contestants.

Wa Iria team was led by his Health Executive Officer Joseph Mbai (Video Below) who expressed the governor’s wish on the poll that had been turned into a former Premier Raila Odinga versus Deputy President William Ruto contest even though Ruto’s party did not have a candidate.

“I have been sent by Governor Mwangi wa Iria to inform the people of Embakasi South that him and his government are supporting Musili Mawathe” Mbai told an excited crowd.

He bashed Sumra saying his five years development was far less what Mawathe had achieved in one year before Supreme Court nullified his election in December 2018 and ordered a re-run.

Mbai added; “What that guy (Sumra) has done for five years is what back in Murang’a we say Ni Gutee. So let’s vote for Mawathe en masse”.

Mawathe retained his seat with 21, 628 votes while Sumra came second with 7, 988 votes.
