Truck driver charged of killing seven passengers in Dundori

The driver of truck that rammed into a matatu and killed seven people in Dundori on January 16 has been charged at Nakuru Court for causing deaths.

Douglas Mwangi was the driver of the truck belonging to Comply Industries Limited that on the said day crashed into 3N TO Sacco at Dundori area along the Nakuru-Ol Kalou road.

It is said Mwangi was speeding when he lost control and ploughed into the 14-seater matatu at around 2PM.

The charge read before Nakuru Resident Magistrate Wilson Kutur reads; “The accused being the driver of motor vehicle registration number KBP 147A/ZD561T – make Nissan Diesel – drove dangerously with no regard to public rules, thereby killing seven passengers,”.

Mwangi pleaded not guilty and was released on a bond of Sh300, 000 with surety of the same or alternatively pay a cash bail of Sh200, 000.
