After The Directorate of Criminal Investigations invited people who invested in Gakuyo companies but have been denied refund to appear today to record grievances, thousands of them are queuing along Kiambu road.
By early morning long files stretched on the road as the frustrated investors hope to get their money back from Gakuyo Real Estate, Ekeza Sacco and Gakuyo Investment Club, amounting to Sh1 billion.
On Wednesday last week DCI invited the complainants from Nairobi and Kiambu to appear today while those from other counties will be invited on a later date.

“The general public who have been defrauded in the scheme and hail from Nairobi County and Kiambu County are advised to report to Directorate of Criminal Investigations Headquarters along Kiambu Road on 18th day of March, 2019 at 9.00am” the DCI statement read.
Bishop David Kariuki Ngare alias Gakuyo, the companies owner is accused of siphoning over Sh1 billion belonging to 78,000 members and put it in his personal accounts.
Gakuyo started these investments and asked peasants to put their money there and reap two-percent monthly interest. They were highly publicised on Kikuyu radio and televisions stations.
He diverted the money into personal and political pursuits. Since 2017 members have been asking for refund of their monies that ranges from few thousands to millions of shillings.
