Comedian and actor Njugush and his wife Celestine Ndinda aka Wakavinye have come from far, enduring agonies to reach where they are.
They met at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication in Nairobi between 2011 and 2014. Fell in love and wedded in 2016 in Runda.
Njugush reveals that, one time during drama festivals in Mombasa, the two were so broke that they went to the beach to pray. They took a photo together after the prayers. The photo that reminds them the far they have come from.
“We went to the beach and prayed and hoped for a better future together ..and we took the photo with a camera borrowed from Kerubo Daphney” Njugush revealed.
Their woes started before they reached Mombasa for the one-week event. Njugush spent all Sh500 pocket money they had.
“Nilimalizia pocket money yangu mtito….nilitoka nje ya bus nikapigwa na kijoto nikajuaa baaas Mombasa tuko hapa. I used all “our” pocket money ya 500kshs. Little did we know we were to stay for a whole week” he recalls.
As their colleagues went to shopping spree, Njugush and Wakavinye walked around supermarkets and at the end would claim what they are looking for has not been stocked so to avoid embarrassment.
The day before they went out for prayers, Njugush found Wakavinye crying and on enquiring she claimed some things back in her home were not okay but she lied. She was hurt by what they were going through with her mpenzi.
“My friends si I prayed….kumbe she was crying for our state of things” Njugush discloses.
He advises; “Just in case you want to give up on that thing that makes you happy, just remember time, time takes care of everything!!!!!!!! You can’t rush Time it has its own right time. Just do what you got to do now, keep that passion alive”.
