Top Mugithi artists Samidoh and Joyce Wamama will not attend John De’Mathew’s burial on Saturday in Gatanga but they will have their last show in United Kingdom in remembrance of the slain musician.
The two have been in UK since mid-August performing to their diehard fans. Their last show at Maasai Choma House along Ferndale Road in UK will be on Saturday the day De’Mathew will be laid to rest at Gathiru-ini village, Gatanga.
“It’s unfortunate we shall not be available to attend the burial of the Legend John De’Mathew scheduled for this Saturday. We hereby dedicate our last show in the UK in his remembrance” Samidoh and Wamama said in a joint statement.
They went on; “Kenyans and fans of Benga Music come we sing his songs and celebrate the life well lived of this Icon”.
Samidoh praised De’Mathew for impacting and inspiring many artists.
“Black Sunday. It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of John De’Mathew, a leading Kikuyu musician and a great leader of our times who has greatly influenced the music scene in the central region, beyond and across generations” Samidoh mourned him.
