Memba Travellers Sacco has been ordered to withdraw their vehicles from the roads after one of their matatu was involved in death of a passenger at Juja on saturday.
National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended the sacco after Kenyans demanded action following the death Judy Wanjiku Nyaga who was pushed out of matatu Reg No KCZ 729C.
Wanjiku who worked at Equity Bank, Ruiru branch sustained injuries, she reported the matter at Juja police station but succumbed at Thika level 5 Hospital.
There was anger on social media as Kenyans demanded the arrest and prosecution of the crew involved and a severe action on the sacco plying Nairobi-Meru route.
Juja Police had for two days failed to arrest them or even sought other stations or public help to apprehend them.
On Monday Inspector General of police Hilary Mutyambai instrucetd them be arrested. The matatu was seized and detained at Wang’uru police station but the suspects are at large.
The sacco officials were summoned before the NTSA.
NTSA ordered the sacco’s fleet be subjected to a compliance inspection at the NTSA inspection centre at Likoni road, Nairobi.
