Lucy Nyira, a 25-year-old woman who was doused with petrol and set on fire by her husband on Saturday last week in Nakuru has passed on in hospital.
Nakuru Level Five Hospital medical superintendent Dr Joseph Mburu said her burns were severe and that she sustained huge loss of water in her body.
Her husband, a mechanic identified as Bernard Kariha set her on fire after they quarreled in their house. He locked her in and by the time residents rescued her, she was severely burnt.
Nyira had gone to Nairobi to buy items to sell but was late because of traffic snarl. This angered her husband who beat her up then did the heinous attack.
Kariha is being held at Nakuru GK Remand Prison as police continue with investigations.
