MP to establish Kigumo United Football Club

Kigumo MP Wangari Mwaniki mooted the idea of Kigumo Football Club.

Kigumo Constituency in Murang’a County will have a registered football club if the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) approves idea mooted by area MP Wangari Mwaniki.

Kigumo United Football Club (KUFC) will have talents from the constituency’s five wards; Kigumo, Kinyona, Muthithi, Kangari and Kahumbu wards.

“We are in the process of forming a football team with help of FKF from across the 5 wards of Kigumo Constituency. We are looking for corporate sponsors and partners including the State Department of Sports towards the success of this initiative” Wangari says.

The first time legislator has supported grassroots clubs to showcase and nurture talents. She established Wangari Mwaniki Super League that has revived the love for soccer.

In Central region, sports competition especially football is a political campaigns affair. They come to a closure once the electioneering period is over but the initiative in Kigumo is becoming a consistent project.
