Joseph Methu and Joyce Nyaruai triumphed in the Open and Ladies category respectively in this year’s KCB Kenya Open Chess Championships that concluded on Monday in Karen.
Both play for KCB in the national league. Methu defeated Ugandan Harold Wanyama who was 2018 winner. He pocketed Sh100, 000 prize while Nyaruai walked away with Sh50, 000.
Last year Methu represented Kenya at the Olympiad in Georgia, USA and will this year represent the country in All Africa Games to be held in Morocco.
