Peter Mbugua, the stonemason who in 2003 while aged 29 married then 67-year-old politician Wambui Otieno has remarried, eight years after her death.
Over the weekend Mbugua married a younger lady at a wedding ceremony held at Christian Foundation Fellowship church along Bunyala Road in Nairobi. It was presided over by Bishop Harrison Ng’ang’a.
He wedded a lady identified as Ann Wangari who Gikuyu Bulletin learnt was in relationship with Mbugua for over eight years. After they exchanged vows Mbugua briefly advised men to remarry for the sake of family and religion.
In 2003 the man from Gilgil shocked the country when he dumped younger girlfriend and got hitched to Wambui in a civil marriage at Sheria House. Late Wambui who had older children than him succumbed to heart failure in August 30, 2011 at Nairobi hospital.
Wambui who was great granddaughter of Kikuyu leader Waiyaki wa Hinga was married to prominent lawyer Silviano Melea (SM) Otieno who died of heart attack in 1986.
When Mbugua made official union with Wambui, his relatives condemned the marriage and when Mbugua’s mother died it was claimed she died of shock.
After Wambui passed on Mbugua was kicked out of their Karen home by Wambui’s daughters and has been living a quiet life at Kitengela. He was not given any wealth by late Wambui.
