Kamaru’s sister Celina passes on

Catherine Muthoni Kiano alias Celina, the younger sister of late Kikuyu benga music Mzee Joseph Kamaru has passed on.

Celina was married to Richard Kiano. She died on Tuesday in Nakuru and her burial is set for tomorrow (November 13) at Kambo, Embu County. Her body is at Kenyatta University Mortuary.

She was very close to her late brother Kamaru. He mentioned her in his popular songs.

Kamaru died in October 3, 2018 and on his burial on October 11 in Murang’a, Celina became even more popular when she was introduced to the mourners and hugged and chat with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto amidst applause by mourners.

She was mother of four and grandmother of eight. Besides Kamaru, her other siblings include late Elizabeth Wanjiku, Late Peter Nyagah and Wilson Kahiga.

After Kamaru’s burial, Celina told Citizen TV she met Uhuru when he was a small boy while they entertained his late father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

Her wish was to visit State House and have a deeper conversation with Uhuru but that never came to pass.
