A technocrat who vied for Murang’a gubernatorial elections in 2013 then shelved his ambitions for the incumbent governor in 2017 elections has asked the area people to consider ex-Senator Kembi Gitura.
Julius Kaberere who is based in United Kingdom now says Gitura was the best Senator Murang’a had.
Gitura who was Deputy Speaker of the Senate was ousted by Irungu Kang’ata, the current Senate Majority Whip.
“Coming from being Kenya’s Ambassador to the European Union, Senator Kembi Gitura used tact, diplomacy and great negotiation skills to have the Senate adopt Jubilee motions and business as the Deputy Speaker. That’s why he stands out. Were he to contest the Senate’s seat in 2022!.. I would vote for him. Would you?” Kaberere posted on his Facebook account.
After he dropped his interests for governorship and backed Mwangi wa Iria ahead of 2017 general elections, Kaberere campaigned for Gitura asking the votes not vote the six piece as a way of defeating Kang’ata of Jubilee.
During his tenure at the helm, Gitura was praised for his sobriety and professionalism.
Kaberere who is currently working as CEO Wandu Management and Consulting in UK has also expressed interest in a political seat in Murang’a.
Word has it he is contemplating going for Kandara Parliamentary seat currently held by outspoken legislator Alice Wahome.
“Friends from Kenya and in particular Kandara and Muranga County, now that everybody is talking about 2022, which seat would you recommend I vie for in the County or the Country. I already declared that I will not be running to be the Governor” he posted recently.
