Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was sneaked out of his office late at night on Labour Day after his unruly youths camped outside City Hall demanding payment for attending the event at Uhuru Park.
Sonko was under siege for hours. A Toyota Probox was used to get him out of City hall at around 9pm.
“He was driven out in a Probox. The bullies had kept vigil outside his office demanding to be paid. They monitored every vehicle he could use and luckily they didn’t expect he could ride in a simple car like a Probox” a source told Gikuyu Bulletin.
They were hired to attend the lowly-attended event. They arrived on bodabodas hooting and as usual caused a scuffle. They had banners and t-shirts reading “Sonko Defence Force”.
They alleged that Sonko declined to honour his promise. They left the city centre late at night very frustrated. In some instances they harassed and robbed motorists and pedestrians.
