Murang’a and Kirinyaga counties have been recording high cases of suicides that have now prompted national government to act.

Central Regional Police Boss Judy Lanet revealed the painful trends saying though she has worked in all parts of Kenya she has never witnessed such high number of suicides anywhere else.

She said she receives at least a suicide case or attempt daily from the two neighbouring counties.

“It is shocking. We want to understand why people are committing suicide. What exactly is the cause” Lanet said.

She has asked the government officers in the two counties to find how a survey can be conducted to understand why Murang’a and Kirinyaga have high suicide cases.
