The Court has given Nairobi governor Mike Sonko a cash bail of Sh15 million or Sh30 million bond but will not access his office at City Hall.
Anti-Corruption Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti has ruled that Sonko will be kept off his office. He directed he be escorted to his office to take his belongings.
Sonko is facing corruption charges. Money laundering and unlawful acquisition of public property at City Hall amounting to Sh357 million. He was arrested on Friday while heading to Mombasa. He has been in police custody.
Sonko will also be held responsible should his supporters cause chaos. Alongside his co-accused, the governor has been barred from approaching or communicating with witnesses in the said case or talk about it on social media.
Sonko produced certificate of good conduct and awards of good deeds in attempt to fight off the case.
