On Valentine Day morning a man Michael Githiomi Mungai jumped into Indian Ocean from Kilifi Bridge in Kilifi County. He was rescued barely alive but succumbed shortly after.
Mungai who was buried today at Nakuru South Cemetery was the Managing Director of Harmony Care Properties, a real estate firm. He went missing on January 13 only photos of him to appear on social media as he took last breaths moment he was retrieved from the Ocean.
Before he committed suicide, the 37-year-old was last seen in Mtwapa. His relatives reported him missing. Close friends hinted that Mungai was depressed but kept to himself.
The family learnt of his death after Benard Otieno, a blogger posted his photo on Facebook as he was being resuscitated shortly after he was rescued but he died in hospital.

Kilifi OCPD Njoroge Ngigi said Mungai jumped into the Ocean at around 9am, was retrieved promptly but died while undergoing treatment at Kilifi District Hospital.
At the beginning of February a young Owen Maina Macharia from Nyeri County hanged himself inside a house in Mtwapa, Kilifi County. On his Facebook page Macharia had aired sorrows and intents to end his life but was not taken seriously.
