When McDonald Mariga was handed Jubilee Party certificate.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has disqualified McDonald Mariga of Jubilee Party from vying for Kibra by-election slated for November 7.

Mariga was kicked out today because his name could not be found in the 2017 voters register.

The former Kenyan international footballer had reported to the IEBC to present his nomination certificate as well as to undergo a scrutiny process.

Mariga supporters in Kibra. He is not likely to be on ballot.

Earlier he appeared before the Jubilee National Elections Board  for vetting and scored 500 out of the possible 600 marks in the interview. He was chosen to be their candidate.

He is set to appeal the decision at IEBC Disputes Resolutions Tribunal.

“I am a registered voter, I don’t know why they can’t find my name.” he said after the commission’s announcement.

He is competing against ODM’s Bernard Imran Okoth, ANC’s Eliud Owalo, Ford Kenya’s Eng Khamisi Butichi and Wiper’s Jackson Makini aka Prezzo.

The seat fell vacant following the death of then incumbent MP Ken Okoth on July 26.

Kalonzo’s party has settled on musician Jackson Makini aka Prezzo.
